I will start this article with a disclaimer: this is not an invitation for you to quit your job. I’m sure a lot of you are very happy with your job, as I am more sure that, if you didn’t really need it, you would quit the first chance you get.
I have been working since I was 22, added to all the volunteer work done in college, I would say I have amounted to 10 years of job market experience. However, it hasn’t really done much for me. I have still to find a workplace that would fulfill me and keep me motivated. The happiest I have been was when working as a freelancer.
Short of paying my bills, having a job has been a complete waste of time and, not even, the best way to make money. I will give you 5 solid reasons why this is true:
#1 You are tied down to a schedule that makes no sense
You go to the office to do a certain job, which you get paid for. So if you’re done doing that job why not go home? What’s keeping you there? There is so much wasted time during a work day, which is mostly used browsing social media and could be put to better use, like learning and making even more money. And why is there a fixed schedule? Do you really have to do this job at 9 o’clock in the morning or can it be done at 11 a.m.? I am sure it can be!
#2 You make the exact amount of money each month
Unless you work in sales or get paid by commission, you receive the exact amount of money every month, no matter the work you put in. If you want to do extra work, that’s just called being proactive. You should be able to get paid for how much you work and if you want to work all day, this should reflect your bank account.
#3 You have to ask permission to have free time
Isn’t it weird that you are an adult and you have to ask for permission to go on holiday or stay home with your family and friends? You barely would listen to your parents while growing up and now you’re taking directions from your boss. Shouldn’t you be able to make your own schedule?
#4 You have to be in the same place everyday
Routines are good and productive, but having to go to the same place every day is pretty tiresome. And you spend more time there than you do at your home which you are paying for by working there. It’s a vicious and messed up circle.
#5 If you had to choose, you wouldn’t still do it
I’m sure there are plenty of you that love or loved your job. But if, for some reason, you don’t need to work anymore, would you still go to your job? I bet not.
So, if you are thinking of more productive ways to make money and, actually, enjoy your time, read our new book ‘Work from Home’ available on Kindle and find out there are plenty of ways to make money without having to go to a job!
